US refuses to reaffirm Paris climate deal
A two-day meeting between ministers from several G7 countries has wound up with no formal committment. While ministers from Canada, Germany, France, Italy, Japan, the UK, and the EU envoy aimed to reaffirm the Paris climate deal signed in 2015 which strives to contain global temperatures within a two-degree increase, it was rejected by US Energy Secretary Rick Perry.
"The Secretary of Energy of the United States of America informed fellow Ministers and Commissioner that the United States is in the process of reviewing many of its policies and reserves its position on this issue," said the chair in a summary of the meeting.
