Brazilian energy tender allocated close to 1400 MW of wind

Enel and Iberdrola are among the winners of the first major Brazilian energy tender in several years.

Wednesday's tender for new energy projects in Brazil allocated a total 1387 MW to wind energy, corresponding to a little over a third of the total project volumes, which also included natural gas, biomass and hydropower plants, report Bloomberg News and Recharge.

The major winners were Enel with 618 MW, an Iberdrola joint venture with 281 MW and EDP with 219 MW. They now have until January 2023 to install the projects, after which power will be sold at an average price of BRL 98.62 (EUR 25.18) per MW hour - a record-low level for wind energy in the country.
