Ørsted to supply green power around the clock

The acquisition of a US solar and energy storage project developer is part of a strategic market development, as customers are not satisfied with only using green electricity when weather conditions are favorable, says Ørsted's CEO.

For an enterprise that often spends major sums on offshore wind projects, Ørsted's latest addition might not seem like such a big deal. Wednesday, the Danish utility announced its purchase of US company Coronal Energy's project developer subsidiary – an acquisition Ørsted Chief Executive Henrik Poulsen tells cost a "low double-digit million figure in USD".
