
Microsoft is in the process of establishing two large datacenters in Gävle and Sandviken, north of Stockholm, Sweden. As with other datacenters sprouting up around Scandinavia, the facility's massive power consumption will be covered by renewables, for which the US tech giant has entered a collaboration agreement with Vattenfall, the utility informs in a press statement.
"Vattenfall and our Node Pole datacenter team have worked hard together with Microsoft to make this project a reality. As a long-standing customer of Microsoft, we are pleased to take part in their quest to provide cloud services for a sustainable future," writes Vattenfall Senior Vice President of Strategy Andreas Regnell in the press release.
