Ørsted brings GE into offshore wind market with major order

With a preferred supplier nomination for around 1,200 MW for two US offshore wind farms, GE makes its first entry in the market with its 12MW machine.

General Electric Renewable Energy is close to securing the first order for its new Haliade-X offshore wind turbine. Ørsted has nominated the US-based wind OEM's 12MW machine for two projects on the US' Mid-Atlantic Eastern Seaboard, Ocean Wind and Skipjack, with a combined capacity of 1,200 MW. The latter facility, rated at 120 MW, is set to reach completion in 2022, while Ocean Wind in New Jersey waters is planned for commissioning in 2024.
