Siemens Gamesa exec: We have to follow the market

One and a half years after a major layoff round and the promise that no more would come, the turbine maker closes up shop in Danish onshore wind, slashing up to 600 jobs. Technology and market conditions, executive asserts.

Siemens Gamesa switches to a lower gear in Denmark. As early as the end of this year, its Aalborg production of blades for onshore wind turbines will cease, while its Brande production of onshore nacelles will be phased out toward the end of 2020. This means sacking up to 600 Danish employees, corresponding to more than one tenth of positions in the country.
