Germany's latest energy tender has allocated 205 MW to wind projects. Even though this is nominally higher than the 176 MW allotted in the preceding round, the tender's combined effect of 675 MW is also 175 MW larger. In other other words, only 30 percent of the tendered capacity ended up subscribed, even though all 25 bidders succeed in getting their projects through. This means that Germany's challenges continue and have reached a new low, informs the Germany Federal Network Agency, Bundesnetzagentur, in a statement.

This has also resulted in a new price surge. While the average price of EUR 0.0619 per kWh from the prior tender came very close to the cap of EUR 0.062 per kWh, all bids in the latest round touch the upper threshold.

Both aspects stand in clear contrast the country's tendered solar capacity. Here, 153 bids were submitted in the most recent round, totaling 648 MW. The tender was thereby oversubscribed with 150 MW.

Such major interest sent prices up even higher than the preceding tender, in which the average price was EUR 0.0547 per kWh. This time around, the price declined to EUR 0.049 per kWh, with bids as low as EUR 0.0459 per kWh.
