Taiwan wants 10 GW more offshore wind capacity

In its efforts to attract more international investments and cement Taiwan's status as a regional offshore wind hub, the island's president wants to set a new 2025 target and commission a regional development plan.

Tuesday, Taiwan inaugurated the country's first true offshore wind farm, Formosa 1 at 128 MW. This follows only days after construction began on the next facility, Formosa 2 at twice its predecessor's capacity. Meanwhile, final investment decisions have been made to go ahead with the range of full-scale projects constituting the offshore wind capacity target of 5.7 GW in 2025.
