2.5 GW offshore wind tender postponed

Shortly after New York State's power authority secured its mandate to hold the US' largest offshore wind tender, the event is now postponed indefinitely with a potential impact on price.

The plan was for New York State to soon kick off its second offshore wind tender. After last year's allocation of roughly 1.7 GW to Ørsted and Equinor, a prompt follow-up auction was supposed to underpin the state's declared status as the technology's main proponent in the US and allow it to secure more of the ever-fewer remaining site licenses left over from previous tenders.
