Danish renewables developer and independent power producer European Energy has allied itself with offshore shipping company Semco Martime in connection with a new study.

Semco will manage electrical infrastructure optimization, including electrical network calculations and an evaluation of various scenarios on how to best transmit power from Danish offshore wind projects Jammerland Bugt and Omø Syd to the onshore grid.

"We are very pleased that European Energy A/S has chosen Semco Maritime for this study and we are proud that our services can play a part in the maturation of this project. We hope to see this project come to life, serving as a critical contribution to the green transition of our society," writes Tommy Flindt, Semco Maritime's director of Engineering & Technology, Offshore Wind, in a press statement.

The task also entails an evaluation of subsea cable layout and design as well as onshore and offshore topological surveying in preparation for installing the necessary transformer substations.

Moreover, Semco Maritime will also compile an estimate of CapEx relative to OpEx costs in order to ensure the maximum optimization of aggregated ownership expenses.

"We have selected Semco Maritime as we recognize their capabilities within offshore wind and we think they are the right partner to help mature this project. We look forward to seeing the completion of our nearshore projects and are pleased to have Semco Maritime on the team," writes European Energy Chief Executive Knud Erik Andersen in the media release.

European Energy has previously disclosed that it expects to a commission the facilities, whose combined capacity comes to 560 MW, during 2023.
