Vestas pauses 150 turbines after collapse

The Danish manufacturer has started extensive work on 450 wind turbine blades after identifying a defective steel component in blade root sections.

After a wind turbine at Sweden's Aldermyrberget facility collapsed in November, Vestas has ordered the halt of around 150 model V150 units. This occurs as a response to the OEM uncovering that the incident in Sweden resulted from a defect at the root section of the turbine blades, Vestas confirms in a comment to EnergyWatch following sector media Renews' initial reportage.
