Siemens Gamesa mulls double capacity at UK blade plant

The turbine maker has filed a planning application with British authorities for a major expansion of its factory in Hull, slated to produce offshore turbine blades exceeding 100 meters in length. The current facility has been a great success, says UK manager.

Siemens Gamesa's production of offshore wind turbine blades in the UK could be facing a significant increase. The turbine manufacturer has submitted a planning application to the city council in Hull for permission to double the current area with two new factory halls and an office building. One of the buildings could become nearly 300 meters in length and thereby future-proof blade production for a long time, according to the application.
