Wind energy developer OX2 from Sweden has now acquired full equity interest in the Hälsingeskogen project from domestic papermaker Stora Enso, which retains ownership of the land plot.
The forthcoming wind farm will feature 37 turbines with a combined capacity of 170 MW and an estimated annual generation of approximately 380 GWh, roughly equating to a year's worth of power consumption for 72,000 households.
"Wind power needs to be quadrupled if Sweden is to reach the national goal of 100 percent renewable electricity production by 2040, according to the Swedish Energy Agency’s and the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency’s wind strategy. The conditions for a wind farm in Ovanåker are good," writes OX2 Country Manager for Sweden Hillevi Priscar in a press statement, adding:
"When we establish wind parks, we always strive for a positive development of the nearby area. We also work with programs for increased biodiversity in areas where we construct wind turbines."
