A researcher working at the Technical University of Denmark (DTU) has resigned from his position after an investigation concluded that he had violated the institution's patent rules, DTU confirms in a comment to Danish daily Politiken, which first reported the story.

The scientist, engaged in wind turbine research, had been employed at DTU since 2009. The media has been unable to get a comment from the person in question.

Back in May, Politiken reports that the same researcher appeared as co-inventor on patent documents within wind power and electrical systems – a situation of which the university was unaware.

This information emerged in connection with a larger probe that showed at least 30 researchers based in Denmark, according to Chinese sources, had been recruited to participate in a large Chinese talent program, which in several instances has aroused suspicion of industrial espionage.

Eight out the 30 scientists have held roles within the wind turbine industry.
