Danish renewables tender ends in expected fiasco

Despite DKK 1.2bn (EUR 161m) in available subsidies, the country's technology-neutral renewable energy solicitation failed to attract as much as single bid. A natural result of a useless tender model, says domestic sector lobby, which like many market players wants the aid pool used to maintain rather than discontinue state-funded network connection rather than provide direct support for renewable power facilities.

Tension dissipated Wednesday evening after a longer period of anticipation, with project developers having waited to see the result of Denmark's third technology-neutral tender – not so much to hear of the winning bids and see which companies would be celebrating having secured the DKK 1.2bn (EUR 161m) project subsidy pool. Rather, observers watched to see if the round attracted any proposals at all.
