The CEO of Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy will no longer be named Andreas Nauen going forward from March 1.

The German national has decided to step down from the position, the company states in a press release. The executive board has appointed member of the board at Siemens Energy, Jochen Eickholt, as the successor.

Chairman Miguel Angel López lists the difficulties in Siemens Gamesa's onshore division and the need to turn the tide in the underperforming division as the reason.

"Siemens Gamesa is experiencing significant challenges in its Onshore business in a very difficult market and we have appointed an executive with a strong track record in managing complex operational situations and in successfully turning around underperforming businesses," Miguel Angel López states.

While the onshore division has struggled, the offshore business has been thriving at Siemens Gamesa.

"The Board would like to thank Andreas for his considerable efforts as CEO as well as for his previous leadership of the Offshore business, which continues to lead the global market."

Jochen Eickholt holds an engineering degree from RWTH Aachen in Germany and is currently a member of the board at Siemens Energy. He has previously held management positions at Siemens Mobility and Siemens Portfolio Companies.

Nauen has been the CEO of Siemens Gamesa since June 2020 and was the CEO at Siemens Gamesa Offshore from November 2017 to June 2020.

Siemens Gamesa will present its Q1 results tomorrow. Two weeks ago, the company ahead of the presentation adjusted guidance for 2021-'22 and reported a negative EBIT of EUR 289m.

The company listed supply chain issues and difficulties regarding the new 5.X platform as the reason for the adjustment.

Siemens Gamesa now names a turnaround in the Onshore unit as the main focus going forward.
