Nordex to lay off a fifth of staff in Germany

The turbine manufacturer is planning to close its factory in Rostock. "We must optimize our global production," says CEO.

In late June, Nordex expects to have closed its rotor blade plant in Northern Germany's Rostock. The wind turbine manufacturer will now begin talks with labor union representatives about the planned closure, expected to result in 600 layoffs, or roughly one in five of the company's 3,150 staff in Germany and corresponding to 7 percent of the OEM's total labor force, Nordex informs in a statement.
