EDF Renewables is ready to take market share in Asia. Alongside local developer Taiya, the French company aims to win Taiwan’s Phase 3 Zonal Development auction that is taking place this year, Taiya informs in a statement.

The partners aim to win rights to develop fixed-bottom farm Huan-Yand of 440MW.

According to the media release, the two companies mean to utilize EDF’s experience within development, technology and resources as an international player.

“We believe that Taiya can provide instrumental experience in engaging the local stakeholders as well as the local industry. Together with EDF Renewables’ experience of more than 10 years in offshore wind projects development, construction, operation and maintenance around the world, the partnership will build a solid and extensive industry network,” says EDF Renewables General Manager Taiwan Ming-Lung Chang in the press release.

Plans state Huan-Yang will be located 8 kilometers off the coast near Changhua, covering an area of roughly 53 square kilometers at sea depths of 15-45 meters.
