Siemens Gamesa to lay off 500 employees

As part of its latest turnaround strategy, the turbine manufacturer will close large-scale blade factory in Morocco five years after coming online due to declining order intake, says CEO.

Next month, five years will have passed since Siemens Gamesa opened its blade factory in Tangier, Morocco. After closing several outmoded blade factories in Europe, the company announced that investing EUR 100m in the 37,500 m2 facility would help future-proof manufacturing of blades with a top length of 75m.
