European Energy’s Italian unit has co-founded interest group Associazione Italiana Agrivoltaico Sostenibile (AIAS) to promote hybridizing agriculture and solar power in a concept called agrivoltaics, the Danish develop writes in a press statement.

”The current goals of decarbonization in 2030 can be achieved more smoothly by combining agricultural production with energy production,” writes European Energy Country Manager of Italy Alessandro Migliorini in the media release:

”This allows for the possibility of those working in the agricultural sector to find new resources to develop crops and investments.”

AIAS aims to support projects that boost potential for agriculture and photovoltaics, for instance through using advanced technology.

Migliorini is appointed as the first president of the associations, whose founding member companies also include ETA Florence Renewable Energies, Le Greenhouse, REA Reliable Energy Advisor, REM Tec and Renovo Bioeconomy.

Italy has been an important market for European Energy since the Danish firm opened shop in the southern European nation in 2020.

Early that year, European Energy sold solar farms Palo and Troia Solar Park totaling 103MW to Iren Energia for a price of EUR 166m.
