Vestas Deutschland workers are called to strike this week by labor union IG Metall, reports news agency dpa.

IG Metall, Germany’s biggest labor union, is trying to collectively bargain with the Danish wind OEM to achieve better settlements for the company’s workers in Germany, with aims including wage raises, overtime pay, and reduced hours for older employees.

”We’re applying more pressure,” dpa cites Martin Bitter, IG Metall’s negotiator, saying.

Actions are planned at several Vestas factories and offices, and as of Monday demonstrations are taking place at production sites in towns of Husum and Thalfang, with protests also set for Thursday at Vestas Deutschland headquarters in Hamburg.

Vestas employees roughly 1,700 workers in Germany.
