Swedish OX2 has once again nominated Siemens Gamesa for a project in Finland, this time regarding 22 model SG 6.6-170 wind turbines, the German-Spanish manufacturer informs in a statement.

The wind farm will have capacity of 145MW and is set to commission by the end of 2024. Siemens Gamesa will furthermore be responsible for maintenance services for a 35-year period.

The 22 wind turbines, planned for deployment in Finland’s southeast region of Savonia, have hub heights of 165 meters, with the machines being some of the most powerful on the market.

Last month, the two companies signed a 70MW deal regarding Sweden’s Riberget project.

Wind power accounts for 10% of electricity in Finland, according to interest group WindEurope, but the country aims to increase the proportion to at least 27% by 2025.

”The country is truly stepping on the accelerator in its drive to promote wind energy and we are pleased to provide leading technology to help meet its ambitions,” says Clark MacFarlane, CEO for Siemens Gamesa’s onshore operation in Northern Europe and the Middle East.
