Vestas warns against panic in the EU

Subsidies are not the right remedy for either the ailing wind industry nor for retaining production in Europe, according to Vestas CEO Henrik Andersen.

By all appearances, Europe’s wind industry is caught in a mire, not least evidenced by the result being released by various companies and most recently further substantiated by Friday’s release of preliminary financial figures from Vestas, which not only failed to reach the lowest revenue target, but also indicated an operating loss of DKK 8.6bn (EUR 1,159m) in 2022, which was a whopping DKK 13.5bn off target compared to the original guidance at the beginning of 2022.
