German OEM Nordex bags an order in Türkiye for eight wind turbines with a total capacity of 56 megawatts.

The customer is Vres Enerji and the turbines are for the expansion of the Kartal wind farm, the Hamburg-based company said in a statement on Friday.

Nordex has historically had a good grip on the Turkish market, and it is a market with interesting growth perspectives.

”The Turkish Energy Market Regulatory Authority has recently announced 25 GW pre-license capacity for the next 10-year-period for renewable projects with storage, and we aim to build on our strong position in Türkiye,” says Ender Ozatay, Nordex Vice President Region Türkiye & Middle East.

So far, Nordex has installed turbines in Türkiye with a capacity of 3571MW, and another 889MW are under construction.

For Nordex investors, the next important milestone is the second quarter report on July 27. Here, the company will try to make up for the disappointment of the first quarter, which showed a EUR 214.8m loss.

High costs for the execution of projects in the order book, which ere signed off on at rather lower prices, had a negative impact on earnings.

”We are still focused on processing our order book efficiently, as the high costs associated with old projects are still adversely impacting our margins,” Nordex CEO José Luis Blanco said at the time
