Tuesday meant a new order from Canada, and on Wednesday it’s off to Türkiye. Nordex is having a great week for order announcements, with the German turbine manufacturer now adding another 189MW to the book. Or to be more precise, the orders are being moved from the book of conditional orders to the binding almanac.

The order has been placed with the German construction company Heitkamp, a subsidiary of the Turkish Rönesans Holding, whose utility company owns the three projects to be built with Nordex turbines. These are the Kayalar, Osmancik and Sagilusagi projects of 49, 56 and 84 MW respectively.

”We are delighted to once again strengthen our position as the market leader in Türkiye,” says Nordex Sales Director Patxi Landa about the order.

The three onshore wind farms were among the winners of last year’s Turkish Yeka tender, Ren-3, which awarded 20 projects totaling 850MW with feed-in tariffs between TRY 49c/kWh (EUR 2.8c/kWh) to TRY 59.7c/kWh (EUR 3.4c/kWh)

Even before the tender results were available, Nordex announced that it would supply the majority of the tender winners - 504 MW - with key equipment for execution. This included the three wind farms won by the Rönesans subsidiary Asiyan Enerji.

The key to the Germans’ dominance in the Turkish market lies not least in localization. Among other things, Nordex has announced plans for a ”significant investment” to produce its largest turbine, the N163/6.X, locally. This is precisely the type of turbine that has been chosen for the three projects.

In addition to the 27 turbines, Nordex has also signed a ten-year service agreement. The actual construction of the turbines is the responsibility of the formal client, Heitkamp, as EPC contractor.
