Threat from Russia prompts Sweden to cancel 2.5 GW offshore wind farm

The Swedish government has cancelled an offshore wind farm of 500-700 wind turbines, because the country's military believes that the project could have serious consequences for both the Swedish navy and air force.

The Swedish government has decided that the offshore wind farm Blekinge Offshore, which is scaled to consist of 500-700 wind turbines with a total capacity of 2.5 GW, will not be approved after all. This is according to the Swedish Minister for the Environment, Karolina Skog, from Miljöpartiet (The Environmental Party).
