
2,400 MW of offshore wind will be erected off of New York by 2030, announced New York's governor Andrew Cuomo late night Tuesday local time, when he presented a proposal to make his state the US driving force in offshore wind. The master plan for the development should be ready by the end of the year.
"New York's unparalleled commitment to offshore wind power will create new, high-paying jobs, reduce our carbon footprint, establish a new, reliable source of energy for millions of New Yorkers, and solidify New York's status as a national clean energy leader," the governor said during his speech.
