New York will install 2.4 GW offshore wind by 2030

New York State is launching a plan for the largest offshore development in the US. Besides a declaration of support for the large Statoil project, the state's governor is also pushing for approval of a specific farm.

2,400 MW of offshore wind will be erected off of New York by 2030, announced New York's governor Andrew Cuomo late night Tuesday local time, when he presented a proposal to make his state the US driving force in offshore wind. The master plan for the development should be ready by the end of the year.
