Siemens will stay on top of Vestas in offshore battle for years to come

The distribution in last year's offshore wind market looked like a massacre: Of the 344 offshore turbines connected to Europe's electricity grid in 2016, the name Siemens was printed on 337 nacelles. This corresponds to a market share of 96.4 percent. The other seven turbines with a total 56 MW came from MHI Vestas. No other manufacturer connected a single offshore turbine to the grid, according to new data from the European industry organization WindEurope.
