Commercial fishermen lose case against US offshore wind farm

The hopes of stopping the 800 MW wind farm off the coast of New York City have failed for a coalition of commercial fishermen. "But our case will continue, and we are confident that we will succeed on the merits," states the coalition which still hopes to bury the project.

A US judge has denied an injunction to the stop the development of the first offshore wind farm in New York State, according to several media.

As such, Norway's Statoil can soon continue the preliminary examinations of the area, on which the company won the right to construct wind turbines back in December.
