Spain exceeds limit with tender totaling 5 GW

The Spanish government has accepted bids for far more capacity than what was actually being tendered. Solar power is by far the big winner, but wind projects also made the cut.

When wind projects took home the entire 3 GW on offer in Spain's first technology neutral tender, the solar power industry claimed there was an uneven playing field. Meanwhile, the wind industry complained when the Spanish authorities adjusted the conditions for a second tender of a further 3 GW, introduced shortly thereafter. However, now it seems that Spain has found a surprising way to appease both sides.
