Vestas' 420 MW MacArthur farm has been Australia's largest wind farm since January 2013, however, 2017 has brought with it a spate of new projects trumping that record. Now, US wind turbine manufacturer GE has announced that it will build the country's largest wind farm, the 453 MW Cooper's Gap project made up of 123 turbines in the range of 3.6 - 3.8 MW.
"Australia is a great market for wind. After the US, it is GE's second largest region globally for renewable energy. While we see lots of opportunities in Australia, we need to continue to have policy certainty to drive investment," says Peter McCabe, President & CEO of GE Renewable Energy's Onshore Wind business.
