Denmark can no longer quench its thirst for oil
After 25 years as an oil-exporting nation, Denmark has used 2 million more barrels of oil over the past 12 months than what was produced. Meanwhile, biomass beat wind power despite strong winds.
2017 has already been an eventful year for Denmark as an oil nation. With the sale of Dong Energy's oil division and Maersk Oil, the country is now bidding farewell to the two major Danish oil firms. However, EnergyWatch has made new calculations based on new data from the Danish Energy Agency's latest energy statistics, and they show that another big goodbye could happen this year. The country could shed its status, held since 1993, as a self-sufficient oil nation.
