
2017 has already been an eventful year for Denmark as an oil nation. With the sale of Dong Energy's oil division and Maersk Oil, the country is now bidding farewell to the two major Danish oil firms. However, EnergyWatch has made new calculations based on new data from the Danish Energy Agency's latest energy statistics, and they show that another big goodbye could happen this year. The country could shed its status, held since 1993, as a self-sufficient oil nation.
Over the past 12 months, the statistics from the DEA show that oil consumption exceeded production by 4.23 percent. This means that Denmark has imported a net amount of more than 2 million barrels of oil.
