Scottish utility scrapes index bottom after hot and dry summer

Scottish SSE announced Wednesday that its operating income would end lower than expected in the fiscal year's first five months – a consequence of higher natural gas prices and a hot, arid summer.

The European energy sector is having a rough day, and the Scottish energy company SSE is ranked lowest on the pan-European Stoxx 600 index, showing an 8 percent decline to 1,151 pence (GBP).
