Avangrid reportedly in M&A talks

Two of the largest utilities in New England are negotiating a merger. Iberdrola's US subsidiary Avangrid – known for its involvement in the US' first commercial offshore wind project, Vineyard Wind, along with consortium partner Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP) – is in talks with PPL Corp. discussing the possibility of either a full or partial merger, which, if successful, would make the deal the largest of its kind among utilities thus far in 2019, reports Financial Times based on sources wishing to remain anonymous.
