Ørsted warns Danish state about bill for free offshore wind

If the Danish government demands upfront payment for projects licensed via the nation’s open-door ordinance, the utility threatens to buy equipment from ”nations we don’t highly favor”.

It might look like kicking in open doors at a first glance. Following a string of other developers, Ørsted and CIP commit to installing offshore wind farms via Denmark’s open-door ordinance, an allocation scheme for capacity additions involving neither subsidization nor state-backed guarantees. The duo plans to accelerate Danish climate change mitigation efforts with a whopping 5.2GW, free of charge.
