Novozymes and Chr. Hansen are ready with more news about the impending merger between the two parties - including the future divisional structure and management team.

Going forward, the new joint company, which is yet to be named, will consist of the main divisions Food & Health Biosolutions and Planetary Health Biosolutions.

The former will be a combination of Novozymes’ Household Care, Bioenergy and Agriculture & Animal Health/Nutrition divisions and Chr. Hansen’s Animal and Plant Health. The division will focus on solutions for the agricultural sector.

The second division - Food & Health Biosolutions - will consist of two sub-divisions: Food & Beverage Biosolutions and Human Health Biosolutions.

Food & Beverage is a merger of Chr. Hansen’s Food Cultures & Enzymes and Novozymes Food & Beverage division, while the other sub-division is made up of Chr. Hansen’s Human Health and HMO business and Novozymes’ Human Health and Advanced Protein Solutions.

”We are combining the right capabilities to deliver superior long- and short-term performance, including the execution of synergies. The team is equipped to deliver strong shareholder value creation by bringing innovation and commercial expertise together in a world in need of more biosolutions,” says CEO Ester Baiget.

As previously announced, the company will be led by Novozymes’ Ester Baiget. Rainer Lehmann - also from Novozymes - will become CFO.

In addition, Jacob Paulsen becomes Head of Food & Beverage Biosolutions, while Amy Byrick is appointed Head of Human Health Biosolutions. Tina Sejersgaard Fanoe takes on the role of Head of Planetary Health Biosolutions.

Anders Lund becomes Chief Operating Officer and Claus Crone Fuglsang becomes Head of Research.

The merged company will be headquartered in Lyngby, near Copenhagen, where Novozymes already has premises. Chr. Hansen’s head office in Hørsholm will continue, while Novozymes’ head office in Bagsværd will be terminated.
