Equinor postpones reopening large facility after fire

The Norwegian oil firm will be delayed by half a year in the expected reopening of its LNG plant on island Melkøya due to the large extent of the damage.

Last fall, when Equinor had assessed the fire damages sustained on Norwegian island Melkøya, where its facility Hammerfest LNG caught fire on Sept. 28, the company first expected to reopen the plant in October 2021.
