Fortum impairs outstanding Nord Stream 2 loan

Fortum subsidiary Uniper has decided to impair in full the outstanding loan tied to Swiss-registered Nord Stream 2 AG, the project company behind the gas pipeline.

Another company is facing up to the fallout related to the Nord Stream 2 project. On the heels of Wintershall Dea's decision to record a loss of EUR 1.1bn, equal to the value of the financing of its stake in the apparently dead Nord Stream 2 pipeline, Uniper will now impair the outstanding amount of EUR 987m, which comprises both the principal loan and accrued interest.
