NKT has landed another high-voltage cable order from Norway, this time carrying a market value of EUR 155m, or EUR 125m in standard metal prices, the Danish manufacturer informs in a statement.

Today’s announcement, like yesterday’s, pertains to a turnkey contract for a cable system connecting Norwegian offshore oil fields, this time concerning North of Alvheim and Krafla.

Equinor has placed the order on behalf of joint venture partnership NOA Krafla Power from Shore, which counts Aker BP and Lotos among its owners, the announcement reads.

”With this order, we continue our long-term collaboration with Equinor to ensure the electrification of the offshore industry in Norway. When commissioned, our power cable solution will help cut emissions on the Norwegian continental shelf,” writes NKT Chief Executive Alexander Kara in the media release.

To fulfill the order, NKT will produce 255km of cables at the company’s factory in Karlskrona, Sweden, starting in 2024.

Commissioning of the project, entailing installations both on land and at sea, is scheduled for 2026.
