Viking Links gives almost no CO2 reductions

The controversial interconnector cable between Denmark and the UK will not reduce greenhouse gas emissions before 2030. Even then, the cable's effect would appear to be minimal.

The Danish government has invested heavily in establishing the Viking Link interconnector between the southern region of Jutland and Lincolnshire and the UK – at a cost of DKK 11 billion (EUR 1.48 billion).  The cable will ensure that Denmark can export a large share of its wind power, but the Danish engineering sector media Ingeniøren reports today that the cable will not cause any CO2 reduction.
