EU Commission endorses Danish support for offshore wind installation vessels

The EU Commission has endorsed the Danish government's extended support scheme for maritime transport to entail, among other categories, seafarers working aboard offshore wind turbine installation vessels.

The Danish government's proposed extension of its tax-exemption ordinance for seafarers has been approved by the EU Commission in accordance with the EU's regulations on state subsidies for maritime transport. Looking forward, the income tax exemption can also apply to crew members working aboard specialized vessels such as supply ships and those that install offshore wind turbines, foundations, pipelines and cables, the EU Commission announces Friday.
