Southern US state inclining to offshore wind

On the same day that both Massachusetts and Rhode Island nominated winners of the first US offshore wind tender, further south, one state is seeking to establish an offshore wind supplier chain.

Wednesday, offshore wind took off in the north eastern US. Massachusetts nominated the project Vineyard Wind to deliver 800 MW by 2021, while neighboring state Rhode Island selected Deepwater Wind's bid to install 400 MW to Block Island, its pilot project in the state. However, further south, there were also inklings of further offshore wind development.
