MHI Vestas strikes deal for Taiwan offshore farm

The offshore wind turbine manufacturer is now one step closer to landing a new customer on the Taiwanese market, potentially leading to orders for upwards of an additional gigawatt. But political developments pose a threat.

MHI Vestas was already nominated back in March as preferred supplier for a series of projects in Taiwan. At the time, Danish developer Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP) selected the Danish-Japanese joint venture for its project portfolio of 1.5 GW, 900 MW of which had capacity allocated at a later time. But now the offshore wind turbine manufacturer is approaching another project.
