Danish site screening shows space for 12.4 GW offshore wind

A new screening of Denmark's territorial waters shows huge potential for offshore wind, the country's energy minister states. Meanwhile, the industry says politicians are underprioritizing the energy source.

New lines have been drawn on Denmark's maritime charts in connection with an offshore wind site screening, initiated by the country's energy policy ratified last year to clarify the potential for offshore wind in Danish waters. That survey shows a potential for at least 40 GW in new offshore wind capacity, and the most recent screening identifies sites suitable for 12.4 GW, informs Denmark's Ministry of Energy, Utilities and Climate on Friday.
