Former MHI Vestas CEO elected chair of floating wind startup

Swedish floating wind developer Seatwirl elects former MHI Vestas CEO Jens Tommerup as board chair prior to entering its commercial phase.

MHI Vestas' first V164 wind turbines hit the seas during Jens Tommerup's four-year tenure as chief executive of the Danish-Japanese joint venture. He will now attempt to replicate that success – albeit at a smaller scale and in a somewhat different role. Wednesday evening, the former CEO was elected chair of Swedish startup Seatwirl, whose current floating wind turbine is rated at 30 kW, the company informs in a statement.
