German capacity build-out falls short of lowest estimate

While Germany's solar market grew 30 percent in 2019, adding almost 4 GW, the country installed less than 1 GW in onshore wind capacity during the same period.

Thursday, several hundred workers in Germany started their first day at one of the so-called transfer companies, enterprises set up to reskill redundant labor. Four of such businesses have been established in the federal state of Lower Saxony to absorb soon-former personnel from Enercon and impacted subsuppliers following the crisis-stricken OEM's decision in November to lay off 3,000 workers.
