Danish wind broke record in 2019

Even though solar and wind energy came just short of passing a halfway milestone, renewable energy covered a larger proportion of domestic energy consumption than ever before. The question remains as to whether the electricity in the grid was greener as such.

The proportion of wind energy in the Danish energy mix is higher than ever. Following a dip in 2018, the winds shifted once again last year, when Denmark's wind turbines generated a power volume corresponding to 46.9 percent of the country's annual electricity use. Despite relatively poor weather conditions in the second half of the year, 2019 turned out to be a fair period for wind energy, show figures compiled by trade association Wind Denmark.
