Danish-Norwegian interconnector closed for failure inspection

The Skagerrak 4 interconnector between Denmark and Norway will be closed for two months while Danish TSO Energinet and Prysmian try to figure out what caused the cable's failure last year.

One could call it an inauspicious prelude. The inauguration of the Skagerrak 4 interconnector, which from December of 2014 was supposed to add a further 700 MW of transmission capacity between Denmark and Norway, had to be postponed several times because of technical problems. However, the cable, which cost around DKK 3.3 billion (EUR 440 million), didn't have many problems during its first handful of years in operation.
