Vestas books a larger order Thursday afternoon. The contract entails 171MW and comes from Cordelio Power for the Moraine Sands wind project in the US state of Illinois.

The supply deal consists of 38 model V150.4.5MW units to be deployed in extension of the 185MW Glacier Sands already featuring 43 machines of the V150-4.2MW variety, optimized to achieve an effect of 4.3MW.

"Building off the successful commissioning and operations of the Glacier Sands wind farm, Vestas is thrilled to partner once again with Cordelio on the Moraine Sands wind project to collaboratively expand Illinois’ renewable energy footprint,” writes Laura Beane, president of Vestas North America, in a statement.

The order includes delivery and commissioning of the 38 turbines, with an attached 20-year service agreement.

Delivery is set to commence in the fourth quarter of 2022.
