Nordex' 2021 revenue surpassed both the company's guidance and estimates from commodity analysts, show the manufacturer's preliminary annual figures.

These numbers show sales value growing last year to EUR 5.4bn against EUR 4.7bn from the preceding year – slightly over the group's prognosis of EUR 5.0-5.2bn.

Analyst forecasts compiled by Bloomberg News predicted EUR 5.1bn.

Earnings before interest, taxes, depreciations and amortizations were expected to reach beyond EUR 50m against more than EUR 94m in 2020, thereby halving the rounded earnings margin before special items from 2 to 1 percent.

Consensus estimates gathered by the US media foresaw an operating result of EUR 54.1m.

Nordex Group Chief Executive José Luis Blanco highlights that the company performed well under challenging conditions during 2021, advancing on sales, installation, production and order intake.

"This was contrasted by extremely high costs for logistics – particularly for shipping – and raw materials, which had a significant adverse impact on our profitability as expected," Blanco writes in a statement Wednesday.

Nordex will present its final annual report for 2021 on March 29, also providing guidance for 2022.
